DTN COMMENTS:  A few bids are now on the table in parts of Kansas, and a 
few scattered bids have been renewed in parts of Nebraska, but they are 
being passed. Packer inquiry should continue to improve as the day 
progresses. Asking prices are around $238 to $240 in the South, but they 
are still not fully established in the North. Beef cutouts are lower at 
midday (choice 378.09 -3.29, select 359.59 -2.20) with light to moderate 
box movement (43.13 lds of choice cuts, 15.95 lds of select cuts, 4.68 
lds of trim, and 6.11 lds of ground). 

Yesterday was a very quiet day in cattle country, but Monday and Tuesday 
saw a light trade in the North with dressed deals at mostly $360, $9 
lower than the prior week's weighted average basis Nebraska, live deals 
have been marked at $228 to $230, $8 to $10 lower than the previous 
week's weighted average.
